Los Pastitos

Some decades ago, State Government beautified the old entry to the city and one of the projects it undertook was the creation of one of the first linear parks in Mexico. Essentially an expanse of grass and trees with a dip on its western edge that soon became lined with houses, the people came to refer to the park as “Los Pasititos” – the little grassy place.

Every one of the people of Guanajuato has rolled around on its grass at least once en their lives. As well as being the largest green area in a city where rock and precious ores are king, Los Pastitos also acts as a venue for concerts, festivals and many of the most popular events during the Cervantino Festival.
