Templo de San Javier

This church located on the outskirts of the city was originally the chapel and subsequently the church on the San Javier mining hacienda. The original design was never completed and it was not until the second half of the nineteenth century that it was reconstructed and given its simple neoclassical doorway and tower, although the buttresses from the earlier building can still be seen.

The surrounding area contains many of the city’s best hotels. A little further up the hill there is a shopping mall and the turning that leads to the Valenciana mine and the town of Dolores Hidalgo.
